Hidden Mysteries: White House
Developed by Spark Plug Games, LLC – We ignite fun!™ Published by Game Mill Entertainment Thank
you for purchasing Hidden Mysteries: White House – we hope you enjoy the
game! Disclaimer: The story of Hidden Mysteries: The White House is a work of fiction. It blends elements of historic fact with stuff we simply made up. The historical facts included in this game were selected for entertainment purposes. They stem from the very best information the Internet could provide. Put another way: don't believe everything you read! TABLE OF CONTENTS
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS [back to top]
The Minimum and Recommended
System Requirements for compiled Applications are:
DirectX Hidden Mysteries: White House requires PC users to have DirectX 9.0 drivers or later installed. These are sound and video drivers from Microsoft that are used in many games. If you need the latest version of DirectX, go to www.microsoft.com/directx. Hidden Mysteries: White House requires you to be running in 16 bit color mode or better. It may not function in windowed mode properly in 256 Colors. In addition, the game may run slowly in windowed mode using 32 bit color. If this occurs, switch to full-screen mode, or change your color depth to 16 bits. The product you are playing is invested with love, blood, sweat, tears, and perhaps the occasional bug. If you should experience suspicious game performance and you suspect you’ve found a bug, please remain calm and remember that in some cultures, finding a bug is considered to be a sign of good luck! Also, please share your good fortune with the good folks at Game Mill, who have a grim fascination with that sort of thing. Hidden Mysteries: The White House can be controlled entirely by left clicking your mouse button. No additional buttons or keyboard keys are necessary. The In-Game Menu You can access the Menu while playing the game. Click on the Menu Button located to the left of the eagle icon in the lower portion of the screen. You can also access this menu by pressing the Escape Key. From there you can make adjustments to your music and sound effects volume, choose a new screen resolution, or quit your current game and return to the Main Menu. Navigation Arrows Click the arrows located in the corners of the screen to leave your current room and move to another location. When you mouse over an arrow, before you click, take some time to read the accompanying pop up description to learn where the arrow will take you. Double Arrow Button If you see a button at the top center of the screen, it means that there is more than one area of your current location for you to explore. Some of the items in your Item List will be located in these areas. Items that appear in grey text are located in another part of the room you're in. To access another area of the room, click the Double Arrow Button. Item List and Inventory Click on the Item List tab to open your Item List. You can find it on the bottom of the screen to the right of the location name. Click the Inventory tab to open your Inventory. The Inventory tab is located on the left side of the location name. The hidden items you are searching for have text entries in your Item List. Some items get stored in your Inventory after you find them. These are special items that you can use to interact with other objects in the game. To use an Inventory Item, switch to the Inventory and click on the desired item. The item becomes attached to your cursor. To use your inventory item, click on the object you would like to interact with. Blue Items Items that appear in blue text within the Item List are not currently visible. They can only be found inside a box or other container. Blue Items often require you to use Inventory Items to open the containers they're stored inside. Item Numbers If you have an item on your list with a number next to it, this means you are required to find more than one of that particular item. For instance, violins X2 means you must find 2 violins. Once one of the items is found, the number is reduced by one in your Item List. Hints If you get stuck, it's probably time to use a Hint. Find the eagle symbol in the lower area of the screen and click it to trigger the game to reveal the location of a missing item. You can store up a maximum of 10 hints. If you run out of hints, look for the All-Seeing-Eye icons. There are 2 of them hidden within every room of the game. Each one you find will add another hint to your collection. Play on Words Sometimes assumptions can be misleading. If an item is proving very hard to find, you might try examining the word itself and see if there could be more than one meaning for the word. For instance, the word "pipe" could be a plumbing pipe or a smoking pipe. Silhouettes If you don't want to spend a valuable hint, you can get a preview of the item you're searching for by clicking on the item text in your Item List. You will see a Silhouette of the missing item appear in the eagle icon area of the bottom right side of the screen. Journal If you're not sure what you're supposed to do next, you may find some guidance within the pages of your Journal. You can access the journal by clicking on the Journal icon next to the eagle icon on the lower right of the screen. Click on the page arrows to turn the pages. You will find new journal pages in many locations of the game. New pages are added to your Journal automatically. Cinematics The cinematics of the game offer more than just the background story; they also contain valuable information, such as important gameplay goals that are essential for completing the game. If you're seeing a cinematic for the first time, watching the entire sequence could be helpful to you later on. Fun Facts Some hidden items in the game have interesting Fun Facts associated with them. To access a Fun Fact, click the Fun Fact icon located next to the item. You can review the Fun Facts you've found by clicking on the Fun Facts menu option.
